What is the idea of SANY Hydron Energy about the technological development trend of alkaline electrolyzers in the future?
Based on the accumulated experience in equipment manufacturing and the in-depth understanding of the demand for large-scale hydrogen production from wind, solar and green power, SANY Hydrogen Energy has spotted five major technological development trends of alkaline electrolyzers:
First, it is the high electric current density. In the future, the electric current density will increase from 2500-3500 A/m2 to 4000-12000 A/m2. The equipment cost will be reduced by 20%, and the operating load range will be widened by 10%.
Second, it is the large scale (large-scale hydrogen production capacity of a single electrolyzer and large-scale hydrogen production capacity of the project). In the future, the hydrogen production capacity of a single electrolyzer will increase from generally 1000 Nm3/h to 2000-3000 Nm3/h. The total hydrogen production capacity of the project will increase from currently 100MW level to the GW level, while a smaller number of electrolyzers in total are required for scenarios of the same scale. The project revenue will increase by 20%.
Third, it is the wide power fluctuation range. The valley of the power fluctuation range will drop from 40% to 10%, while the peak will scale from 110% to 120% or even higher. The utilization rate of green power is expected to increase by more than 10% with safer equipment.
Fourth, it is the module-oriented design. At present, most electrolyzers are customized and developed for chemical equipment, which is against the overall cost reduction trend of intelligent manufacturing. The module-oriented design concept and intelligent manufacturing technology enable the structural assembly of the electrolytic chamber, and ultra-large-scale mass production and interchange of key components, which makes the equipment more stable and manufacturing more efficient.
